Summary of meeting with county on pumping station on
Since you all may see county people showing up taking pix of the waterfront, etc., here's what's going on.
The board had what I think was a productive meeting with the county this week. They presented a new design with a photo simulation, which I will bring to next board meeting or will show to anyone who wants to come by my house (call first).
The Dreams Landing board asked for three other options to be considered, which the county agreed to evaluate:
1. Move the new design footprint over about 10 feet to the right towards the property line, making it even less visible.
2. Demolish the old building and replace with pumping station at the site.
3. Reconsider using the existing building or give us clearer reasons why it is not possible.
We were told that these options involve such considerations as:
1. The ability to get permitting from state in light of critical area
requirements.
2. How to treat wastewater during construction.
3. How viable the existing road access is for heavy equipment during bad weather, even with improvement.
4. Cost differences.
5. Maintenance and operating concerns of the various options.
We await a response which should take a couple of weeks.
I feel pretty good about this, but then I'm always surprised that someone finds a fly in the ointment regarding this topic.
I'd like to thank the other four board members who showed up for this mid-day meeting. They all had much to contribute and I could tell that the county representatives appreciated and respected our understanding of the complexities of the situation, as well as understood the firmness of our position regarding the waterfront. County government people are so used to too many adversarial meetings with citizens who haven't done their homework. Been there....
